Threats of the Russia-Ukraine Conflict: CNN

The prospect of Russia's invasion of Ukraine has raised alarms due to the situation prevailing in the region, threatening to involve the country's 44 million population in the conflict. This is reported by CNN, which also presents other threats that the Russia-Ukraine conflict could bring about.

According to the broadcaster, the Kremlin may go much further than the borders of the two countries. Experts fear that this could lead to a new era of uncertainty in Eastern Europe, disrupt supply chains, and lead to shifts in the global economy as well as geopolitical influence.

“If clashes do occur, it is unclear what scale they will reach, as predicting Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intentions is a futile exercise. Any modern war can be horrific, but there are degrees of horror,” stated former UK ambassador to Belarus, Nigel Gould-Davies.

“This is simply the most serious security crisis in Europe since the 1980s,” the diplomat added.

Analysts are in consensus that the effectiveness of NATO's response could also be disastrous, considering the duration of any intervention and how far it may go.
