Why I Am Joining the Petition for the Resignation of the Yerevan Mayor: Ani Khachatryan

Yerevan City Council member Ani Khachatryan has written:

“Why am I joining the petition for the resignation of the Yerevan mayor? The mayor represents a political force, and if he has severed ties with that force, he can no longer hold office. The mayor should work with the council members, yet Haik Marutyan is only working with himself and almost has no contact with the council members. Meanwhile, rumors circulate that he has established close ties with individuals who did not even participate in the council elections.

I believe that Haik Marutyan has lost both the legal grounds and moral right to be the mayor of Yerevan.

The mayor of Yerevan should represent the political forces of the Luys, BHK, and My Step factions.

P.S. Let me remind you that our faction's candidate for mayor was Artak Zeynalyan.”
