In Shurnukh, There Is Not Even a Health Post, While Vorotan Faces Water Issues

On December 10, the International Human Rights Day, the head of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs, Taguhi Tovmasyan, was present at the frontline in the Syunik region. She visited Vorotan, Shurnukh, Khot, and several other communities.

In an interview with the newspaper "Zhoghovurd," the deputy stated that the day was highly symbolic for her, and it was essential for her to be in Syunik, as it has recorded the highest number of human rights violations against citizens. Most of these violations are perpetrated by Azerbaijanis, and Armenia has yet to find a way out of this situation and provide an adequate response.

Taguhi Tovmasyan also highlighted the need for a security zone within the village to prevent direct contact between villagers and Azerbaijani troops, keeping them out of sight. "It is urgent to create a reasonable security zone to exclude cases of psychological and physical pressure on villagers," she emphasized.

According to Tovmasyan, there is not even a health post in Shurnukh, and the village head, having lost his house, currently resides in the territory of the medical center, where medical services are provided by a nurse in home conditions. Moreover, to ensure the continuity of the educational process, teachers are forced to travel to Goris twice a day using a Ural truck, creating additional difficulties.

Additionally, Tovmasyan noted that the people in Vorotan are facing water and gas issues. Shurnukh is also struggling with water shortages. She informed "Zhoghovurd" that the alternative route is under constant monitoring by the Azerbaijanis, making it unsafe and impassable for low vehicles.
