Flour Prices Rise Again: 'Joghourt'
Flour prices in Armenia have risen again. Citizens are reporting this to the 'Joghourt' newspaper, expressing their dissatisfaction with the price hikes. For example, the price of one kilogram of flour was 210 or 220 drams, but it has recently increased to 275-280 drams.
The price of a 25-kilogram bag of flour is now 6800 drams. The Armenian Statistical Committee has also recorded a 1.5% inflation in the flour market in October compared to September.
Over the past year, the price of flour has increased by 7.2%. Last year, a 25 kg bag of flour could be bought for 5200 drams. Furthermore, according to the Armenian Statistical Committee, flour production volumes have significantly decreased this year, falling by 23% over the nine months.
It should also be noted that bread prices have risen as well. Officially, in October compared to September, bread prices have increased by 1%. While some vendors have not changed their bread prices, they have reduced the weight of the loaves. Details are available in the newspaper's issue.
