Erdogan Threatens to Expel Ambassadors from 10 Countries

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has threatened to expel the ambassadors from 10 countries who called for the release of human rights defender Osman Kavala. This information was reported by RIA Novosti, citing Turkish media.

Earlier, the embassies of Canada, France, Finland, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and the USA had issued a statement calling for the release of the human rights advocate. Following this, Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the ambassadors of these countries, reminding them to adhere to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

“Why are those 10 ambassadors making such statements? I told our Ministry of Foreign Affairs that we do not have the luxury of accepting them in our country. Is it your job to lecture Turkey? Who are you? Stay away from Kavala. Do you keep murderers, terrorists, and robbers in your own countries? They always respond, 'The court is independent.' So, your court is independent, while ours is dependent? Our court is the best example of independence,” Erdogan stated during a conversation with journalists while returning from African countries.
