What Awaits David Galstyan: Court Decision Revealed
Weapon supplier and businessman David Galstyan, known as "Patron Davon," will remain in custody. The Court of Appeals, under the chairmanship of Judge Mnatsakan Harutyunyan, has rejected the appeal by David Galstyan's lawyers against the decision to detain him. This was reported in an interview with Armen Harutyunyan, the lawyer.
As previously mentioned, businessman David Galstyan was detained on September 30 by the decision of the judge of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, Karen Farhoyan. An appeal has been filed against the decision of detention, during which the defense has contested the existence of both reasonable suspicion and the grounds for detention. The defense has not yet received the decision from the appellate court.
It should be noted that former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan and businessman David Galstyan, also known as Patron Davon, were arrested as part of a criminal case investigated by the National Security Service (NSS), and a motion for their detention was granted by the court. According to the NSS report, Davit Tonoyan and David Galstyan have been charged as defendants for embezzling the sum of 2,277,323,840 AMD and committing forgery, which are considered public danger acts. Additionally, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Stepan Galstyan, has also been arrested and detained in connection with this case. He is charged with abuse of official power resulting in substantial negative consequences and committing official forgery.
