Possible Cause of Entry Collapse in Batumi's Five-Story Building Revealed
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, repair works were carried out with gross violations of safety regulations, which likely led to the collapse of one of the entrances of the multi-family building, reports Sputnik Georgia.
In connection with the collapse of the entrance of the five-story residential building in Batumi, three individuals have been arrested: the owner of the apartment on the first floor and two workers who were performing the renovation work. They face imprisonment ranging from two to ten years.
One of the entrances of a five-story residential building on May 26 Street in Batumi collapsed on October 8 around 12:00 PM. Seven people have died, including three children. By a decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia, October 11 has been declared a day of mourning in the country.
