Unknown Gunman Opens Fire on Two Young Men on Abovyan Street; Victims Hospitalized
On September 24, 2021, at 2:44 AM, a medical center reported that two individuals with gunshot wounds had been transported from Abovyan Street in Yerevan.
Emergency measures confirmed the identities of the hospital-admitted individuals, who are residents of the Tavush region, aged 23 and 24. Preliminary information indicates that around 2:30 AM on the same day, in an area adjacent to a café on Abovyan Street, an unknown perpetrator allegedly attempted to unlawfully take the lives of the young men by firing shots from a weapon that was kept illegally, but circumstances beyond the perpetrator's control prevented the crime from being completed.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 34-104, Part 2, Clause 1 of the RA Criminal Code by the investigative department of the Kentron and Norq-Marash Administrative Districts of Yerevan.
An examination of the crime scene revealed three spent cartridges, three bullets, traces of blood, a polyethylene bag with clothing, and samples were collected. The clothing worn by the victims at the time of the incident was seized, and several witnesses, including eyewitnesses, were interrogated. Forensic, biogenetic, forensic-psychological, criminal-technical, and criminal-analytic examinations have been commissioned to clarify significant circumstances related to the criminal case.
The pre-investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to determine the identity of the individual who allegedly committed the crime, to locate him, present him to the prosecuting body, and ensure an objective and comprehensive investigation.
A directive has been issued to the investigative body.
