Passenger Train on Araks-Yerevan Route Collides with Truck, Driver Flees Scene
On July 11, in the Masis-Echmiadzin area, a passenger train on the Araks-Yerevan route collided with an unknown vehicle that was found on illegally constructed railway tracks. This was reported by the South Caucasian Railways.
According to the company, "The truck driver attempted to cross the railway tracks in front of the train through an unauthorized passage, resulting in the train hitting the vehicle's body. The responsible driver fled the scene of the accident," they stated, adding that they have informed the law enforcement authorities of the incident.
In light of the increasing number of railway accidents caused by drivers, the South Caucasian Railways urges motorists to remain vigilant when crossing railway tracks to protect their health, lives, and property. "We advise against using illegal crossings and to only cross the tracks at designated and equipped locations."
