According to US President Donald Trump, Washington is not currently planning to resume large-scale military operations against Iran and will instead focus on economic pressure.

Trump stated that the US is reducing the level of tension and monitoring Iran's economic situation. “We are only negotiating with them partially. We are simply watching Iran with its enormous inflation and the fact that they have no money,” Axios quoted the president as saying.

He noted that Iran is in “very bad shape,” and the US maritime blockade has exacerbated the country's economic crisis. Axios sources indicate that just a week ago, Trump was inclined to resume large-scale military operations, but he was persuaded to temporarily go down the path of de-escalation.

At the same time, negotiations among the US, Iran, and Oman regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz are still at an impasse. Tehran has put forward several additional conditions for ending the war against Iran and its allies, lifting the maritime blockade and sanctions, withdrawing American forces from the region, compensation for damages, and unfreezing Iranian assets.
