Extraordinary Incident in Lori Province: Stepanavan Police Chief Saves the Life of a 27-Year-Old Contract Soldier

On July 12, an extraordinary incident occurred in Lori Province. Around 18:50, a report was received at the Stepanavan Police Department from community police officer H. Ghazaryan, that during a patrol, a group of citizens approached him to inform that a person had stepped to the dangerous edge of the railings in the central section of a bridge in Stepanavan and was attempting to jump off.

According to shamshyan.com, an operational group arrived swiftly at the Stepanavan Police Department under the leadership of Chief Suren Bagratunyan. He conducted negotiations with the individual for some time, who ultimately decided against taking the extreme step and was escorted to the Stepanavan Police Department by the police chief.

The citizen is a 27-year-old resident of Lori Province, serving as a contract soldier in a military unit of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. His intention to take such an extreme measure stemmed from personal issues. Investigative materials are being prepared at the Stepanavan Police Department's investigative division regarding the incident.
