21-Year-Old Assaults 52-Year-Old Woman in Artashat with Knife, Leading to Her Death

On June 12, 2021, at 15:30, a report was received from the "Artashat Medical Center" regarding a resident born in 1969, who was transported to the hospital with multiple stab wounds and later died.

The Investigative Committee informs that a criminal case has been initiated in the Ararat Regional Investigative Department of the Republic of Armenia under Part 1 of Article 104 of the RA Criminal Code.

According to preliminary data, around 15:00 on the day of the incident, the individual suspected of committing the crime entered the kitchen of the Artashat resident's home and inflicted knife wounds on her. During the investigation, immediate investigative and procedural actions were taken, including an examination of the crime scene, where numerous blood-like traces were found in the corridor and kitchen, samples were taken, several individuals were interrogated, and the knife used in the crime was seized. Forensic medical and biological examinations of the corpse have also been appointed.

As a result of the measures taken, the motive was established, and the identity of the individual suspected of the crime, a 21-year-old resident of the same city, was determined. He was arrested on suspicion of murdering his fellow citizen. The investigation is ongoing. Efforts are being made to clarify all circumstances of the case and to ensure an objective and comprehensive examination, verifying the details mentioned in witness testimonies.
