Who is Performing the Duties of the Foreign Minister?
The duties of Armenia's Foreign Minister are being carried out by the longest-serving deputy. This was stated in response to a query from Armenpress by the Information and Public Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“According to the law, the performance of the minister's duties is carried out by the longest-serving deputy, which does not imply the adoption of a separate legal act. At this moment, all Deputy Ministers of the RA MFA continue to perform their duties. Regarding the rest, we do not comment,” the MFA stated.
Auroranews, after examining the information published on the MFA website about the deputies, reports that the duties of the minister are being performed by Artak Apitonyan. He was appointed as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs by the Prime Minister's decision on December 28, 2018. The others were appointed in 2019 and 2020.
