Reporter Hits 7-Year-Old Girl with Hyundai in Yerevan
On May 30, an accident occurred in Yerevan. Around 1:15 PM, 34-year-old Karlyn Aslanyan, a resident of Yerevan, hit a pedestrian, 7-year-old Ani L., with his Hyundai vehicle at the intersection of Paronyan and Leo Streets.
According to photographer Gagik Shamshyan, the driver did not flee the scene, called for emergency assistance, and helped transport the child to the “Nairi” medical center.
Officers from the Yerevan traffic police arrived at the scene. Garik Hakobyan, the responsible officer at the operational management center of the Yerevan Traffic Police, reported the incident to the traffic police’s investigative and administrative division for traffic accidents, from where a crew led by division head Grigor Avetisyan and senior investigator Vardan Baghdasaryan was dispatched.
Materials are being prepared by V. Baghdasaryan regarding the incident. The driver underwent a sobriety test, which revealed he was sober.
According to G. Shamshyan, driver K. Aslanyan is a reporter for Radio Liberty, while the injured child is a first-grade student at one of Yerevan's schools.
