41-Year-Old Resident of Yerevan Threatens Self-Immolation in Front of NSS Building
Material is being prepared at the Central Police Department regarding the attempted suicide that occurred on May 21. Photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reports that at approximately 02:30, the operational management center of the Yerevan police received a call about a citizen sitting on the stairs in front of the main entrance of the National Security Service building on Nalbandyan Street, threatening to set himself on fire.
An operational group from the Central Police Department arrived at the scene, where they determined that the individual was a 41-year-old resident of Yerevan, Artur Y. After talking with him, the police were able to persuade him not to take such drastic action. He was then invited to the Central Police Department, where he provided an explanation regarding the incident before being released.
The police are investigating the reasons that led the citizen to attempt such an extreme measure in front of the NSS entrance.
