Clarification of Borders Will Create Certain Security Guarantees, There Will Be No Fighting: Secretary of the Security Council

The aim of our opposition, as well as Azerbaijan, is sometimes to present that our security is indeed undermined and to try to convey this to the public at large. The reality is not like that. Of course, we have suffered serious consequences after the war, but extensive work has been done in the last six months.

This was stated by Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan in an interview with Petros Ghazaryan, discussing the trilateral document concerning the delimitation and demarcation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

“No one is forcing us to sign it; it is a proposal that we still need to discuss,” said Armen Grigoryan. He noted that the entire process is about ensuring that Azerbaijan withdraws its armed forces from Armenian territory.

The Secretary of the Security Council emphasized that the document is about creating working groups. “Clarification of territories is in our interest because it will not allow such incidents to occur, it will create certain security guarantees, there will be no fighting, but this process will take a long time, there is a 100 km long border, and discussions must take place everywhere,” said Grigoryan.
