The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Presents Border Situation to Diplomats
Today, Deputy Foreign Minister Artaq Apitonian met with the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia. The information is provided by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Artaq Apitonian presented to foreign diplomats the situation created as a result of the penetration of Azerbaijani armed units into the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia—particularly in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions—and the steps being taken to resolve the situation.
"The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that these provocative actions are a continuation of the aggressive rhetoric of Azerbaijan's military-political leadership towards Armenia, which is coupled with military exercises that commenced in Azerbaijan on May 16, conducted without prior notice and in violation of the requirements of the Vienna Document of 2011," the statement said.
Apitonian highlighted that such gross violations of international law by Azerbaijan pose a serious threat to regional peace and security. The representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry stressed that Armenia expects an appropriate response from the international community. "The Republic of Armenia reserves the right to defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty in accordance with the UN Charter," the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs added.
