Armenian Deputy Governor Resigns to Join the Army
The Deputy Governor of Armavir, Reserve Major General Aleksan Aleksanyan, has made a significant announcement regarding his resignation.
In a statement, he said: “The challenges and threats facing the state have created a vital need for public unity and the formation of a common front, while the country's authorities are busy dividing and labeling the public. This adopted path is incompatible with our nation.
In light of the current situation, I express my disagreement with what is happening and resign from my position as Deputy Governor of Armavir and commander of the local volunteer unit. I express my solidarity and support for the honorable soldiers and especially my comrade-in-arms, Chief of Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Onik Gasparyan.
I find it appropriate to recall the following saying by Nzhdeh: ‘The last card of endangered nations is re-education.’”
