How Much Can We Say 'No' to Serzh? Please, Don’t Confuse Inability with Velvet, Says Sofia Hovsepyan
How much can we say 'no' to Serzh? This was stated by MP Sofia Hovsepyan during the announcements hour in the National Assembly. 'Since 2018, the whole nation stood up and said no, and now it’s 2021, and we continue to reject. How long? How long must we fail to understand that after rejecting, there is an existing authority?' Hovsepyan remarked.
According to her, there is an opposition in the country, and there is another opposition, but there is no existing authority. 'They are rejecting each other. It is normal for the opposition to criticize; it is natural. What I don’t understand is why the government is constantly being criticized. Instead of that, there should be work and action. If that much energy were invested solely in doing something, the criticism from the opposition would also decrease.'
'Apart from the opposition and the authorities, there are people who are on neither side. What should these people do, just sit and watch as they insult each other? The steps toward reason should first be taken by the government, by uniting people and voicing calls for reason. Today our nation is divided; families are breaking apart, one part is in Baghramyan, the other part in the square. Please, let’s unite people. We are already on a path to national destruction.'
'Are there traitors? Where is the law? I have been waiting for three years, and where is the appropriate punishment? If we cannot, please do not keep saying 'the end of velvet'. I ask you, do not equate inability with velvet,' she concluded.
