We Are Following the Developments in Armenia with Concern, Peskov
The Kremlin is closely monitoring the situation in Armenia, but considers what is happening to be an internal affair of a key and close ally of Russia in the Caucasus. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, stated this, according to RIA Novosti.
“We are following the developments in Armenia with concern. We consider it an internal affair of Armenia, our very important and close ally in the Caucasus,” Peskov said.
It should be noted that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia today issued a statement demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the government. The Prime Minister announced that he sees the ongoing events as an attempt at a military coup, calling on his supporters to gather at Republic Square in Yerevan. The Prime Minister is set to give a speech at 16:00 in Republic Square.
