Migration Service and Passport and Visa Department to Merge
The Ministry of Internal Affairs will result in the merger of the Migration Service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure with the Police's Passport and Visa Department. The newly formed body will be called the Migration and Citizenship Service. Nelli Davtyan, the spokesperson for the Migration Service, stated this in an interview with Armenpress.
According to Davtyan, currently, the Migration Service only works with foreigners within the framework of the asylum system, while any foreigner’s entry and exit from the Republic of Armenia essentially falls under the area of migration.
Davtyan mentioned that the merger is also aimed at improving the quality of certain services. “As a result of this merger, citizens will also feel the changes, especially in the service sector, and one of the key issues will be the introduction of an entirely new culture of citizen service, details of which will be made public a bit later,” Davtyan noted.
