Residents Urged to Stay Outdoors as Approximately 20 Aftershocks Registered: Ministry of Emergency Situations
The aftershock activity is gradually subsiding. Approximately 20 aftershocks have been recorded. Residents are advised to stay outdoors in open areas. Additional information will be provided. This was announced by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia.
Reports have been received regarding damages in Ayvazovsky and Smbat Zoravar streets due to the earthquake.
On February 13, at 15:29 local time (11:29 GMT), a 4.7 magnitude earthquake was recorded by the seismic network of the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, with geographic coordinates of 40.11° N latitude and 44.54° E longitude, 8 km southeast of Yerevan, at a depth of 10 km. The intensity of the underground tremors in the epicentral zone was 6-7 points on the Richter scale.
The earthquake was felt in Yerevan with an intensity of 5-6 points, and in the regions of Aragatsotn, Ararat, Shirak, Armavir, Kotayk, and Vayots Dzor with an intensity of 3-4 points.
