Avinyan's Visit Has Nothing to Do with It, It's PR at Someone Else's Expense: Goris Deputy Mayor

The government is not financing the construction of private houses in Shurnukh and has nothing to do with this project. This was stated by Goris Deputy Mayor Menua Hovsepyan in an interview with NEWS.am, refuting Tigran Avinyan's claim that the construction of private houses in Shurnukh has begun in accordance with his agreement.

“Benefactors have been coming and going since November, saying what they want to build. Avinyan's visit has nothing to do with it at all; it's simply PR at someone else's expense, nothing more than that, and I can say it’s not moral. Private houses will be built with the help of benefactors, while a multi-story building will be constructed with community funds,” said the deputy mayor, noting that they plan to complete the construction as soon as possible.

According to Hovsepyan, the goal is to resettle citizens who lost their homes in Artsakh into the multi-story building. “Our goal is to resettle the border villages and have more residents since it is our only guarantee for security,” he said. Menua Hovsepyan mentioned that the border areas of the region are relatively safe at the moment.
