Aragats Akhoyan Released from Custody
The former MP from the Prosperous Armenia faction, Aragats Akhoyan, who was charged with attempting to seize the government building, was released yesterday. His lawyer, Benik Galstyan, informed NEWS.am about this development.
He noted that the request for Akhoyan's detention was denied due to lack of sufficient evidence for reasonable suspicion.
It is noteworthy that on January 28, citizens held a protest in Republic Square demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Near the government building, where clashes occurred between the police and citizens, a group attempted to enter the building. Following this incident, more than twenty citizens were detained, including Aragats Akhoyan, Arshak Zakaryan, Israel Hakobkhohyan, Tigran Chobanyan, and Vahagn Chakhalyan. They were arrested and charged with attempting to seize the building.
