Speaker of the National Assembly and Some MPs Traveled to Artsakh at State Budget's Expense During War's Intense Days
Information has surfaced online indicating that the trips made by Ararat Mirzoyan, his brother-in-law Hratch, Lulu, Sisak Gabrielian, and eight others to Artsakh during the war were formalized as official missions. The budget allocated them expenses for travel, hotel accommodations, per diem, as well as a separate amount for "representational expenses."
It is noted that Ararat Mirzoyan signed the relevant order on October 16, 2020, amidst the peak of the war, when thousands of Armenians both in the Diaspora and in Armenia were fundraising and volunteering. Meanwhile, Ararat Mirzoyan and Hratch Hakobyan, among others, were using budget funds for their travel costs to Artsakh. While the army was fighting, these "My Step" representatives were spending time in restaurants in Stepanakert at the expense of taxpayers.
