40-Year-Old Man Fires at Law Enforcement, Hindering Search Operation, Says Investigative Committee
A 40-year-old man who was wanted by law enforcement did not comply with their lawful demands and fired a weapon illegally possessed by him from inside his home, which prevented a search from being conducted.
Explanatory work was carried out regarding the man laying down his weapon. Subsequently, he handed over a "TT" type pistol that he was illegally keeping to the police, after which he was escorted to the General Department of Criminal Police of the Republic of Armenia.
This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
On January 27, 2021, at approximately 07:30 AM, based on a court decision, investigators from the Arabkir division of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, together with employees from the General Department of Criminal Police of Armenia, visited the residence as part of an investigation concerning several criminal offenses under Articles 268 Part 3, 235 Part 1, and 273 Part 2, Subparts 1 and 3 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The aim was to locate suspects on the run as well as to find illegally held weapons and drugs at the residence and related auxiliary structures.
As a result, the wanted individual fired his illegally possessed weapon from inside the house, which made it impossible to conduct the search. Following the negotiations, the 40-year-old man later surrendered his "TT" type pistol to the police officers and was taken to the General Department of Criminal Police of Armenia.
A criminal case has been opened at the Arabkir division of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee under Article 316 Part 2 (using violence against a representative of the authorities) and Article 235 Part 1 (illegally acquiring, selling, keeping, transporting or carrying weapons, military hardware, explosive materials or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The investigation is entrusted to a special investigative team, with further investigative and procedural actions being carried out to clarify all circumstances of the case.
