63-Year-Old Driver Rolls Over in Mercedes Vito Due to Icy Road Conditions

On January 19, a serious traffic accident occurred in the Gegharkunik region due to icy road conditions. At approximately 11:10 AM, 63-year-old Edik Mkrtchyan from Sevan lost control of his Mercedes Vito on the 23.4 km mark of the Sevan-Martuni-Getap highway. The vehicle veered off the road, flipped over, and ended up in a ravine on the right side of the roadway.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, Edik Mkrtchyan was transported to the 'Sevan' medical center with bodily injuries. The photojournalist also reported that the cause of the accident was the negligence of the road maintenance service in Gavar, as they had failed to take any measures to clear the accumulated snow from the road or to treat it with salt and sand following heavy snowfall.
