Voters in Front of Kebabs: Heated Discussion in the National Assembly
“We have talked a lot about kebabs. How many kebabs did you give to the Civil Contract Party to elect Vardevanyan as Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly?” asked opposition MP Agnesa Khmoyan. Deputy Speaker Vahagn Aleksanyan responded.
“No, we did not elect Vardevanyan in exchange for bribery – kebabs or otherwise,” said Aleksanyan. He also added that through this question, Agnesa Khmoyan inadvertently convinces them not to vote for the next opposition candidates.
Aleksanyan stated that they believe about 70 percent of the votes for opposition candidates in the last elections were garnered through bribery. He pointed out that regardless of whether Vardevanyan was there or not, there would have been a representative of the opposition in that chair.
