We Do Not Hide That We Do Not Support a Military Solution to This Issue: Lavrov

Russia opposes a military solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and calls on all external forces to refrain from promoting a military scenario. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“We do not hide that we do not support the possibility and permissibility of a military solution to this issue. Accepting the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples as friendly and brotherly, we cannot share such aspirations,” Lavrov stated.

The Russian Foreign Minister reminded that the leaders of Russia, the United States, and France have all expressed support for the exclusively peaceful resolution of the conflict as co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.

“We urge all external players to do everything possible to avoid promoting a military solution scenario in the future, to cool the parties' emotions, and to intensify efforts to create conditions for resuming the peace process,” he added.
