Armenian Assembly Launches Petition for Sanctions Against Aliyev and Erdogan
The Armenian Assembly of America has called on the administration of President Donald Trump and the U.S. Congress to impose sanctions on Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as their senior military officials, for war crimes committed against civilians in Armenia and Artsakh.
“President Trump, with the support of both parties in Congress, should immediately direct U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to impose sanctions against Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, both of whom are clearly guilty of the deliberate surprise attacks and continuous assaults on the civilian population in Armenia and Artsakh. We urge the Treasury Department to take swift action to implement these sanctions against Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev. They are both war criminals, and the U.S. Government must act accordingly,” stated Raffi Hamparian, president of the Armenian Assembly.
The Armenian Assembly has initiated a petition aimed at sanctioning the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey for their war crimes.
