After 10 Hours of Discussion, Turkey Passes Bill on Disarmament of Kurdish Armed Group

The Turkish parliament has passed a bill defining the legal framework for the disarmament and reintegration of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). According to Reuters, after nearly ten hours of deliberations, the bill received votes in favor from four hundred sixty-eight deputies, while eighty-eight voted against and six abstained.

The bill was supported by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's governing coalition, the pro-Kurdish Democratic Party, and several opposition forces. The Turkish government has stated that the aim of the initiative is to facilitate the disarmament process, and it does not include a general amnesty.
