Lebanese Forces Take Control of Beirut City Center and Fully Clear Government Buildings
Lebanese security forces took several hours to clear downtown Beirut of thousands of protesters. According to a TASS correspondent, by midnight, law enforcement and military units managed to fully take control of the central Place des Martyrs.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the Lebanese Army and security forces, protesters who had invaded the buildings of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Energy, and Environment were removed from the premises.
Despite the current relative stability, the likelihood of anti-government protests resuming and new clashes remains high.
It is worth noting that at least 490 people were injured and 5 protesters were arrested during clashes and unrest between demonstrators demanding the government's resignation and security forces. Earlier, Prime Minister Hassan Diab called for early parliamentary elections.
