Entire Neighborhood in Catalonia Quarantined Due to Major Coronavirus Outbreak
The authorities of the autonomous community of Catalonia in Spain have decided to restrict access to and from the Segrià neighborhood, where a surge in COVID-19 infections has been recorded, announced Catalan government chief Quim Torra.
About 209,000 people live in the area.
“We have decided to isolate the entire Segrià region due to data confirming a significant increase in COVID-19 infection cases. This is a difficult decision that will take effect today at noon. Access to and from Segrià will be restricted,” Torra stated during a press conference broadcast on his Twitter account.
