26 MPs Make Up 19.7 Percent: Mane Tandilyan
The member of the National Assembly from the "Bright Armenia" faction, Mane Tandilyan, made a post on her Facebook page addressing the announcement by the Prosperous Armenia party regarding their intent to appeal to the Constitutional Court.
"Dear journalists,
Many of you have been asking if 26 signatures from MPs can be used to file an application to the Constitutional Court. I would like to point out that according to Article 169, Part 1, Clause 2 of the Constitution, at least 1/5 of the MPs, or 20 percent, can appeal to the Constitutional Court. 26 MPs make up 19.7 percent, which is undoubtedly less than 20 percent, or 1/5. Therefore, the Constitutional Court does not have the right to accept the application, as has never been the case before," she wrote.
