Citizens Without Masks in Istanbul Face $130 Fine
The Istanbul Provincial Health Council has imposed a fine for citizens who do not comply with the mandatory mask-wearing requirement, Ermenihaber reports.
According to the new regulations, individuals circulating in the city without a mask will be fined 900 Turkish Lira, which is approximately equivalent to $131.
It is noteworthy that the mandatory mask rule is in effect in 48 cities across Turkey. Previously, in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul, citizens were only penalized after three warnings, with a fine of 950 Lira (around $138). In the Gaziosmanpaşa district, the penalty for not wearing a mask was 392 Lira (about $57). Moving forward, the penalty amount will be uniform across all districts of Istanbul.
