Man Beats Mistress and Inflicts Mental Suffering, Later Released from Punishment
A 34-year-old man charged with causing mental and physical suffering to his mistress has been found guilty but was conditionally released from serving his sentence.
Earlier, "Factinfo" reported that under the influence of alcohol, the man went to his mistress's home and physically assaulted her, attempting to strangle her. He then turned on the gas stove in the kitchen, heated a kitchen knife on it, and placed the hot knife against her index finger, burning it. He took a fork, pointed its sharp end at the middle of her wrist, and threatened her, saying that if she pulled her hand away, he would stab her with the fork. While holding her hand on the table, he burned the wrists and fingers of both her right and left hands.
The man became upset because his mistress had a social media page and wanted to end their relationship.
According to "Factinfo," the 34-year-old man faced charges under part 1 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia for intentionally inflicting severe physical pain or mental suffering. The case was heard at the general jurisdiction court of Shirak Province. The defendant admitted to the charges and requested an expedited trial, which was granted.
When imposing the sentence, the court considered mitigating circumstances: he is married, has no prior convictions, and has three minor children, one of whom is in poor health. He provided a confession and was sentenced to 1.5 years. At the same time, the court applied Article 70 of the Criminal Code, releasing the defendant from serving his sentence for causing suffering to his mistress.
