Criminal Case Initiated Following Report of Violence Against Armenian Citizen by Police
The Armenian General Prosecutor's advisor, Gor Abrahamyan, announced on his Facebook page that a criminal case has been initiated based on a report of violence by police officers against a citizen. He stated, 'Yesterday, we reported that during media monitoring conducted by the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia, allegations of crimes related to police actions against a citizen were noted, which were forwarded to the Special Investigation Service of Armenia in accordance with Articles 180-181 of the Criminal Procedure Code.'
Additionally, a report was received from T. Karapetyan, a suspect in a criminal case examined under the second part of Article 316 of the Armenian Criminal Code, regarding acts of violence by police officers against him. This report was also sent to the Special Investigation Service of Armenia. In relation to the same incident, T. Karapetyan submitted a report about the crime to the Special Investigation Service.
Based on these reports, a criminal case has been initiated under the second part of Article 309 of the Armenian Criminal Code and has been accepted for proceedings at the Special Investigation Service. Within the framework of the criminal case, all measures will be taken to fully, objectively, and comprehensively clarify the actual circumstances of the incident.
