European Parliament Suspends Work Due to Employee with Coronavirus
The European Defence Agency (EDA) has confirmed that an employee has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus. This was reported on March 4 in Brussels by the EURACTIV internet resource, which is closely associated with EU institutions, as reported by Armenpress.
According to the source, the case concerns a senior official at the agency who returned from a trip to Italy last week. The portal has indicated that as a precautionary measure, all meetings planned within the EDA's offices have been canceled until March 13. The agency has also decided to cancel the participation of all employees in external consultations during the same period.
This precautionary measure is based on new guidelines received from the EU Medical Committee. After returning from his trip to Italy, the infected individual participated in a four-hour meeting with approximately 30 officials from other EU institutions. Symptoms of weakness have been observed in one member of the military staff of the European External Action Service who was present at the meeting, and he is currently awaiting test results.
