Customs Duties on Nearly 900 Products Increase Following Armenia's EAEU Membership

The "Jhoghovurd" newspaper reports that as a result of Armenia's membership in the EAEU, customs duties on nearly 900 products have increased for the past month. This means that 900 items, which are not imported from EAEU member countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, and Russia, will see a price increase of 0.5 percent soon.

The "Jhoghovurd" daily has obtained a list of 900 products whose customs rates have been raised and will continue to rise. For instance, let’s take a look at essential consumer items for which new customs rates have been in effect since January 1st of this year.

The customs rate for poultry meat has already increased by 25 percent since January 1st, and it is set to rise by 50 percent in 2021. By 2022, it will increase by 0.7 euros per kilogram.

The "Jhoghovurd" daily also found out that the customs rate for frozen beef has risen by 15 percent since January 1st of this year. Notably, it will increase by 25 percent in 2021 and by 50 percent in 2022, with a minimum charge of 1 euro per kilogram, equating to more than 520 drams.

The customs rate for oil has risen by 15 percent since January 1st. Additionally, the customs rate for liquefied gas is set to increase by 5 percent for 2020, 2021, and 2022.

It is worth mentioning that the customs rate for vehicles increased by 10 percent starting January 1st, with the same increase expected for 2021 and 2022.
