Agency Advises Caution When Sharing Personal Life Stories in Groups

The Personal Data Protection Agency advises citizens to be more cautious when sharing stories about their personal lives in various groups. “Dear citizens, recently, anonymous posts have been circulating in closed groups on Facebook where individuals present episodes from their personal lives. Although the stories are written anonymously, the details presented, descriptions of people, and other information can allow for the identification of the post’s author.

Taking all of this into consideration, the Agency recommends being more careful when discussing personal life stories in groups. When posting a story in a group with several thousand members, it is difficult to be certain that there will be no leak. If you nevertheless decide that your story should be published, try to present as few details as possible that could directly or indirectly identify you,” the agency’s statement reads.
