Greek MP Tears Turkish Flag in European Parliament
During a session of the European Parliament's main assembly, Greek MP Ioannis Lagos tore a paper Turkish flag in a gesture of protest. This was reported by Ermenihaber.
The Greek MP addressed the situation of refugees in the Greek islands, stating that Turkey is able to do whatever it wants. He remarked, “We didn't hear anyone here speak about the situation of Greek citizens. Everyone is talking about the refugee issue. So how will the rights of Greek citizens be addressed?”
Lagos noted that 70% of Greek citizens are against illegal immigration and added that his country's people are subjected to attacks by immigrants. “On one hand, there is Turkey, which can do whatever it wants. Continuously, immigrants are coming to our country. Here is the Turkish flag; what are they doing with it? Tearing it apart and throwing it aside. We must put an end to the influx of immigrants,” Lagos stated.
