Youth Who Entered Erebuni Plaza with a Gun to be Detained
The Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court on January 26 approved the investigator's request to select detention as a measure of constraint for the individual arrested for firing shots at the Erebuni Plaza hotel. This was reported by the Investigation Committee.
It should be noted that gunfire was reported at the Erebuni Plaza business center on January 23. The police received a call at 14:40 that an armed individual was in the building. Operational teams immediately rushed to the scene. The shooter was neutralized by 16:00. It later became known that the shooter was 32-year-old Arthur Torosyan, a resident of Artashat.
A criminal case has been opened regarding the incident under three articles: hostage-taking involving the use of a weapon and dangerous violence against two or more persons, illegally acquiring, keeping, or transporting weapons, as well as deliberately destroying property.
