Pedestrians Crossing at Unauthorized Location Cause Collision
On January 27, a traffic accident involving a pedestrian occurred in Yerevan. At approximately 21:50, near Garegin Nzhdeh Square, in front of the 'Acba-Credit Agricole Bank', the vehicles driven by 33-year-old Arsen S. in a KIA Rio with license plate 10 VX 707, and 53-year-old Bagrat H. in an Opel Zafira with license plate 36 PO 689, collided.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, after the collision of the Opel, the KIA moved forward and struck two pedestrians. They were transported to the hospital with injuries by ambulances, thanks to the prompt response of the fire and rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the officers of the Shengavit police department, and citizens.
Witnesses at the scene reported that when the KIA noticed the two pedestrians crossing the street, it stopped to allow them to pass. However, they were crossing at an unauthorized location, while just two meters away, there was an underpass. At that moment, the Opel collided with the KIA.
