Death Toll from Earthquake in Turkey Reaches 39
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) has released data regarding the devastating earthquake. According to the authority, the number of fatalities has reached 39, with 35 casualties in Karbair and 4 in Malatya. Additionally, the number of injured stands at 1,607, of which 1,516 have already been discharged from the hospital, reports Ermenihaber.
It is noted that thanks to rescue operations, 45 individuals trapped under the rubble have been saved so far.
Remember, a powerful earthquake struck Elazığ province on the evening of January 24th. The seismic activity measured 6.8 on the Richter scale. Several dozen aftershocks followed, causing destruction from Elazığ to Malatya.
