Investigators Do Not Allow Hrayr Tovmasyan to Familiarize Himself with Court Decision, Says Amram Makinyan

The search operation at the apartment of the President of the Constitutional Court, Hrayr Tovmasyan, has not yet begun, as the head of the investigative group is obstructing the full realization of our rights, said Amram Makinyan, a member of Tovmasyan's defense team, in an interview with reporters.

“Investigators from the Special Investigative Service and officers from the Main Department of the Police's Criminal Investigation are currently at Hrayr Tovmasyan's apartment. The essence of the investigative action is that a search is to be conducted. The search has not started yet since the head of the investigative group is obstructing the full realization of our rights, specifically preventing Hrayr Tovmasyan and defense team member Mihran Poghosyan from fully familiarizing themselves with the court decision,” said Makinyan.

“We have submitted a relevant motion. This is an unprecedented practice in the criminal proceedings of the Republic of Armenia, where a person is not allowed to read the decision. No concrete explanations are given. It is such an unprecedented situation that I cannot provide any commentary,” Makinyan added.
