Will Representatives of Iran and the USA Meet in Armenia? Clarification from the Foreign Minister

“Meetings between heads of state are of great importance, but there is still no exact date for the meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. At this stage, efforts are focused on the level of foreign ministers,” said Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan during a press conference with reporters.

“The negotiation process is important. We will continue to actively work with the Azerbaijani side. We will conduct an evaluation of the processes considered recently, and in the near future, we will create a working plan, taking into account the circumstances we have,” noted the Foreign Minister.

In response to a question about whether a meeting between representatives of Iran and the USA is possible in Armenia, the minister said he would not want to overestimate or underestimate the role of each country in this matter. “Regional security issues remain primary concerns for us, as well as challenges directly related to our security. Our assessment on this issue has already been voiced; we are involved in the assessment of the situation and the possible development of events regarding security issues, the necessity of establishing stability, and the exclusion of heightened tensions,” stated Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.
