Discussions on Counteractions Against Recognition of the Armenian Genocide Held in Turkey
A meeting of Turkey's Presidential High Advisory Council was held under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as reported by ermenihaber. The head of the President's Public Relations Department, Fahrettin Altun, issued a statement regarding the agenda of the meeting.
During the session, among other issues, Altun noted that the necessary actions against the “baseless claims of the Armenian Genocide” were discussed. Perspectives circulated within Turkey and abroad regarding the Armenian Genocide were presented at the meeting.
The council members stated that the topic of the Armenian Genocide is utilized as a tool by certain groups aiming to divide the Turkish people. They emphasized the importance of preventing the spread of misinformation related to the topic and taking steps to hinder actions being carried out against Turkey through proper diplomatic initiatives.
“Necessary steps to be taken against claims about the events of 1915 that do not correspond to reality have been thoroughly discussed,” the statement from Altun said.
