Turkish Officials to Depart for Moscow

The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, and the Head of the National Intelligence Organization Hakan Fidan will travel to Moscow on January 13. According to Turkish sources, the meeting with the Russian side will address the issues of Syria's Idlib province and Libya.

It is noteworthy that Libyan National Army General Khalifa Haftar has rejected the proposal for a ceasefire from Turkey and Russia, which was set to take effect on January 12. The spokesperson for Haftar's "Libyan National Army," Ahmed al-Mismari, issued a statement on social media rejecting the calls for a ceasefire and stating that military operations will continue, as reported by ermenihaber.

It should be reminded that Libya is effectively experiencing a dual power situation. Since the ousting and killing of former leader Muammar Gaddafi, around a decade of power struggles have remained unresolved. Alongside the UN-backed Government of National Accord, a shadow regime in the eastern regions led by General Haftar's Libyan National Army persists. Since last April, clashes between the parties have intensified as rebels launch assaults toward government troops to take control of the capital, Tripoli.
