Ministry of Defense Clarifies Reports on Decrease in Compensation for Servicemen
In response to reports published by various media outlets regarding the decrease in compensation for "servicemen on duty," the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia has issued a clarification, which we present below.
According to Article 22, Part 3, of the Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Remuneration of Public Officials, the compensation fund for each body is formed from the annual salary fund allocated in the state budget for that body.
By order of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, a corresponding reward fund has been established for one-time cash awards to servicemen in the armed forces and allocated to military units. Based on the results of the academic year, in accordance with the provisions of the "Disciplinary Regulations" law, rewards have been given to the best servicemen throughout the year.
According to Article 22, Part 9 of the same law, servicemen may also be compensated from the saved resources of the annual salary fund. During this process, awards have been distributed based on the quantitative ratio of the servicemen showing the best results.
