Soviet People's Artist Galina Volchek Passes Away
Galina Volchek, the Soviet People's Artist, artistic director of the 'Sovremennik' theater, and actress, has passed away in Russia. This was reported by TASS.
Galina Volchek was 86 years old. A few days ago, she was hospitalized due to a lung-related illness.
Galina Volchek was born on December 19, 1933, in Moscow, into the family of the famous director and cinematographer Boris Volchek and screenwriter Vera Maimina.
In 1955, she graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School. She played numerous roles in films, including 'Don Quixote,' 'Beware of Automobile,' 'King Lear,' 'Autumn Marathon,' 'Umik,' and many others.
Since 1972, Volchek served as the chief director of the 'Sovremennik' theater, and from 1989, she held the position of artistic director.
